The inimitable Loyd Grossman was the guest speaker at this year’s Mayfair & St James’s Association annual lunch held recently in the magnificent restaurant of The Ritz Club London.
Starting out in journalism, Loyd went on to become a well-known television presenter whose knowledge of and fascination with food led him to create his own brand in 1995, which became Britain’s most successful new premium food brand.
His lifelong interest in history, the arts and heritage (in June 2015 he was appointed CBE for services to Heritage and is currently Chairman of the Royal Parks) shone through in his address, and he entertained us with many amusing anecdotes and observations of life in Mayfair and St James’s.
The Mayfair & St James’s Association has protected, promoted and developed these two wonderful and historic areas of London for more than 60 years. It also organises an array of professional networking and social events for members throughout the year.
