We were delighted when we were approached by a trail-blazing spa and beauty brand to become one of its preferred search partners. The company, set up in the United States in the mid-1990s, ignited a spa revolution by combining super-effective services with a fun, quirky atmosphere and has subsequently gone on to develop their own hugely successful line of bath, body and skincare products.
We were briefed to find a senior Sales & Marketing Manager to cover the existing incumbent’s maternity leave. The UK online business is a brochure site rather than interactive trading so this person had to be willing to focus on driving footfall through other innovative techniques under the watchful eye of the US and to build an integrated marketing strategy across all divisions of the brand.
The company advised us that they had already lined up someone else and, indeed, had even completed a handover with that person, when for personal reasons, she was suddenly no longer able to take on the role. They came to us with just one week to go before the incumbent’s maternity leave was due to start…
So our challenge was to find an experienced Sales & Marketing professional from the beauty business who would not only be willing to cover a maternity leave for nine months, but who had to live in London and be available immediately.
Utilising our networks of contacts plus some imaginative use of social media, we were able to track down the perfect candidate who was returning to London after a successful stint overseas. She had absolutely the right experience and saw the role as a great opportunity to relaunch her career in the UK. She was snapped up by our client and got off to a flying start immediately.
