An exclusive, high end, personal training business setting new industry benchmarks for rapid and outstanding physical transformations. The business is unique in that it provides an Olympic-standard, luxury training facility in the heart of the City of London.
Our task was to locate an experienced and well-connected Marketing/Operations Manager with a proven background either in wellness or high end hospitality – someone who could help the business grow in the UK and internationally. Confidentiality was key too as this new appointment would have a big impact on the existing team.
We had undertaken some work in the wellness field previously but this was still a relatively new area for us. The founders of our client’s business had strong City backgrounds so were well versed in how executive search operates. They were determined that their high end business should search for high end candidates – hence their approach to us.
Our initial search spanned a wide area: clubs, gyms, spas, restaurants, hotels and resorts. Following our research and interviews we presented five candidates for our client to meet. Two in particular were swiftly identified as most closely matching their needs. Second interviews ensued and they were each then invited to present their ideas for the business.
Both candidates knew the sector well. Both had great ideas of how the business could develop and they offered new revenue generating plans that the founders loved. It was decision time…..
There had been some talk of personality profiling but it was agreed with the client that after three formal interviews, an elevator pitch and a SWOT analysis there wasn’t much more to be gained from testing.
An offer was made and accepted by the candidate who the founders felt would grow best with their business and help bring about change. Within weeks she was described as ‘like replacing a Skoda with a McLaren’.
